Hi šŸ‘‹, I am George Petropoulos. My greek name is Giorgos or Yiorgos or Yorgos (greek: Ī“Ī¹ĻŽĻĪ³ĪæĻ‚), a common abbreviation of my birth name Georgios (greek: Ī“ĪµĻŽĻĪ³Ī¹ĪæĻ‚).

I am based in Athens, Greece and I am currently working as an engineering manager of the Data & AI team in ChartMogul. I like taking data and AI products all the way, from the first idea to a proof of concept, then to implementation, and finally to something people actually use. Recently I have been driving ChartMogul’s AI initiatives: an AI assistant in the product, a publicly launched MCP server that opens up ChartMogul analytics to AI clients, and AI-powered data enrichment. I envisioned each of them, built the proof of concept, architected the solution, and released it to customers.

This is how I have worked for a long time. I tend to spot a need, get buy-in, build it, and ship it. I did this with ChartMogul’s migration from Postgres to ClickHouse, with founding its Data Engineering team and analytics stack, and with similar projects in analytics, fintech, hiring and R&D. Having worked in lots of different domains, I consider myself a versatile person who will understand the business and figure out what it’s needed to improve it. I am an executor and problem solver by nature, and I always aim to help and encourage my team and colleagues to learn and grow themselves.

I have worked and experimented with lots of data and AI tools, databases, programming languages, libraries and cloud services. I am currently working with ClickHouse, Snowflake, dbt and MCP, and I think about how I can improve ChartMogul’s data and AI architecture. Day to day I build with LLMs, working with agents, multi-agent systems, RAG, embeddings, knowledge bases, tool use and evals to turn them into product features.

I am documenting my experiences from life, data and AI engineering, while also maintaining my cv into the Resume page. This way I hope to improve my technical (and not only) writing.
